A male-to-male reducer taking an AN8 flare on one end down to AN6 on the other, both ends using the standard 37-degree AN flare seat. Its job is to let a component with an AN8 port feed an AN6 line, or the reverse, without building a separate adaptor stack. AN8 to AN6 is one of the most-used steps in a fuel system, typically where a larger supply line reduces to feed a regulator, rail or filter that was built with smaller ports. Because both ends are male, it mates to female swivel hose ends or female adaptors. Do not use sealant on a flare joint; the seal is made metal to metal on the cone.
