As the socket is tightened, the cutter nipple carves into the hose liner and grips it mechanically, which is why this design is favoured for lines that see heat cycling and vibration. AN10 is a genuine high-volume size: oil cooler and remote filter feeds, transmission and diff cooler lines, big fuel feeds, and scavenge runs on wet or dry sump systems. The straight body is the first choice wherever the port faces the direction the hose already wants to go, since it adds no bend and keeps flow losses down. Suited to rubber-lined braided hose; PTFE assemblies need PTFE-specific ends.
