Because socket and nipple are a single assembly, building a hose is quick: cut the braid square, seat it fully on the nipple and tighten the socket to swage the joint. A 150-degree bend sends the hose back nearly parallel to the fitting, which is the answer when a port faces directly away from where the line must run and a 90 or 120 still leaves it fouling. AN8 is the higher-flow size for boosted fuel feeds, oil cooler lines and turbo drains, so this end keeps a substantial hose routed tidily without a strained bend.
