This 8~6 reducer carries an AN8 female 37° flare seat on one end and an AN6 male flare on the other, letting an AN8 hose end or port connect straight onto AN6 hardware. It is a common fix when a pump, filter or cooler is ported AN8 but the rest of the system is plumbed in AN6, or when a supplied hose end does not match the component. The step down does restrict that point, so on fuel systems it is better placed on the return side or a short branch than in a pump suction line, where any reduction hurts. One compact fitting replaces a female-female union plus a separate reducer.
