Because socket and nipple are a single assembly, hose building is straightforward: cut the braid square, seat it fully on the nipple and tighten the socket to swage the joint. The 45-degree angle offers a gentler change of direction than a 90, which is often the better answer where a right angle would over-rotate the hose and pull the run out of line. AN8 is the higher-flow size used for main fuel feed on boosted engines, oil cooler lines and turbo drains, so keeping the bend gentle helps preserve flow.
