The socket and nipple stay together as a single unit, so assembly is a square cut on the braided hose, a firm push onto the nipple and tightening of the socket to swage the joint. A 45-degree end is the most-used angle after straight and 90, giving a moderate change of direction that eases the hose away from a port without the abruptness of a right angle, which keeps the run relaxed and the bore open. AN6 is the standard-duty size for fuel feed and return, oil lines and power steering return.
