This is the screened version of the AN10 O-ring port fitting, combining an AN10 male 37-degree flare for the hose with an AN10 male O-ring port thread and a built-in straining element on the port side. Fitted into a sump, oil pan or reservoir boss, the screen sits inside the casting and catches gasket fragments, swarf and other debris before they can be drawn into a scavenge or pressure pump. It is a sensible precaution on freshly assembled or recently machined engines and dry sump systems. The port seals on its O-ring against the boss face, so no sealant is needed. Inspect and clean the screen at oil service intervals.
